The Classic Mattress Assembly

Styled queen classic mattress with olive tree next to bed

1. Remove The Packaging

Your mattress arrives in fully recyclable paper packaging. No sharp tools are required. Simply locate a natural opening in the paper and gently tear it open, similar to unwrapping a gift.

Open slowly and allow the mattress components to expand fully. Please ensure pets and children are kept at a safe distance during this step.

2. Prepare The Mattress Cover

Lay the mattress cover over your foundation or solid slatted base with the open end at the head of the bed. The canvas side with the diamond pattern should be face down. The Obasan logo should be positioned on the left side, at the foot of the bed.

Pull all four corners of the cover down over the foundation so it fits snugly, as shown in the reference image. If you’re using a slatted base, ensure the corners are fully stretched and ready to receive the latex layers.

3. Assemble Your Latex Layers

Each latex layer includes a small label indicating its firmness. Take a moment to confirm the correct placement before assembling.

Start by placing the 2" firm base layer into the cover first. Ensure it is fully squared, reaching each corner of the cover and aligned with the foundation.

Next, place the 4" middle layer pieces directly on top of the base layer(s).

  • Queen, King, and California King Mattresses include six total core layers.
  • Twin, Twin XL, and Double Mattresses include three total core layers.

Arrange the pieces based on the recommended firmness for each sleeper’s side.

Place the 2" soft latex top layer on last. Ensure it is evenly aligned and neatly squared with the layers below.

4. Close The Cover

Once all latex layers are in place, pull the side panels of the cover up and over the mattress surface.

Carefully check that all latex layers are fully aligned and neatly squared in each corner of the cover.

Pull the top panel of the cover tightly over the mattress. Begin zipping from both sides, gently pulling down on the cover as you go to reduce tension on the zipper. The two zippers should meet at the head of the bed.

5. Protect Your Mattress

To protect your mattress and extend its lifespan, we recommend using a mattress protector. Add your sheets, and you’re ready to enjoy a healthy and comfortable sleep!
