1. Remove The Packaging

Your mattress arrives in fully recyclable paper packaging. No sharp tools are required. Simply locate a natural opening in the paper and gently tear it open, similar to unwrapping a gift.

Open slowly and allow the mattress components to expand fully. Please ensure pets and children are kept at a safe distance during this step.

2. Prepare The Mattress Cover

Lay the mattress cover over your foundation or solid slatted base with the open end at the head of the bed. The canvas side with the diamond pattern should be face down. The Obasan logo should be positioned on the left side, at the foot of the bed.

Pull all four corners of the cover down over the foundation so it fits snugly, as shown in the reference image. If you’re using a slatted base, ensure the corners are fully stretched and ready to receive the latex layers.

3. Assemble Your Latex Layers

Each latex layer includes a small label indicating its firmness. Take a moment to confirm the correct placement before assembling.

Start by placing the 2" firm or medium support layer into the cover.

Next, place the 4" firm and/or medium base layer(s) into the cover.

  • Twin, Twin XL, and Double mattresses include one base layer piece.
  • Queen, King, and California King mattresses include two base layer pieces (one per side).

Refer to your sleep expert’s recommended configuration to ensure the correct layer is placed on each sleeper’s side. Make sure each latex layer reaches all corners of the cover and aligns evenly with the foundation.

Place the 4" middle layer pieces directly on top of the base layer(s).

  • Twin, Twin XL, and Double mattresses include three total pieces.
  • Queen, King, and California King mattresses include six total pieces.

Arrange each piece according to your sleep expert’s recommendations for firmness and placement.

4. Close The Cover

Once all latex layers are in place, pull the side panels of the cover up and over the mattress surface.

Carefully check that all latex layers are fully aligned and squared into each corner of the cover.

Pull the top panel of the cover tightly over the mattress. Begin zipping from both sides, gently pulling down on the cover to reduce stress on the zipper. The two zippers should meet at the head of the bed.
